Resumen
Los biocombustibles se producen a partir de plantas, animales o algas, es decir de materia orgánica, y buscan ser el reemplazo de los combustibles fósiles; los biocombustibles a partir de algas han cobrado gran popularidad en las últimas décadas debido a que tienen una alta tasa de crecimiento, su cultivo es fácil y poseen un alto contenido de lípidos. Existen más 30,000 tipos de algas conocidas, este estudio se centra en demostrar que tan factible es el uso de las algas de la familia Clorophyta como biomasa para la producción de biodiesel.
Abstract
Biofuels can be produced from plants, animals or algae, for instance from different kinds of organic material, which are focused to substitute fossil fuels. Algae based biofuels have been gaining a lot of attention in the last years, the reason of this increasing popularity it’s because of the easy farming, the high ratio at which the algae grows and the high lipids concentration that the algae yields. This study is focused to demonstrate how efficient it’s the use of the algae from the Clorophyta family as a biomass for biodiesel production.
